On July 10, 2026 Mother Jones reported that Disability Law United filed a federal lawsuit against the ICE and private prison contractors over the severe mistreatment of Ulises Peña López. The lawsuit argues ICE and facilities operated by GeoGroup and CoreCivic violated disability civil rights and subjected Mr. Peña López to inadequate medical care and abuse.
