PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Disability advocates claim in a new federal lawsuit that Portland and Multnomah County have “failed” to establish emergency alert systems that are accessible to their disabled residents.
The nonprofit Disability Rights Oregon filed suit Tuesday on behalf of Disability Rights Oregon and three disabled Portlanders, including Audra Pearson, who has cerebral palsy.
“They don’t have the right stuff for people in wheelchairs,” Pearson told KATU on Tuesday.
