DLU Submits Public Comment: New Immigration Rule

We’re speaking out about a new immigration rule that could make it much harder for people with disabilities to appeal their cases.

Disability Law United submitted the following public comment raising serious concerns about an immigration rule that would speed up the appeals process and make it easier for immigration cases to be dismissed, quickly putting immigrants at risk of immediate deportation. This can make it nearly impossible for a noncitizen with disabilities to get a fair outcome in their case because they often need more time to consult and get assistance from a third party or fully understand what’s required of them to properly file an appeal.

At DLU, we work to break down barriers like these. We’re especially concerned about how this rule could disproportionately harm people who are already navigating multiple challenges within the immigration system.
